How we prepare every Re-Nou piece before it reaches you
At Re-Nou, we want second-hand to feel just as clean, safe, and reliable as buying something new — only more thoughtful. Our promise is simple: every item arrives fresh, cared for, and ready to wear with complete confidence.
We know buying pre-loved online can feel uncertain if you cannot touch or inspect the item yourself. That’s why we are transparent about our entire care process. Here you’ll find exactly how we clean, refresh, and repair each type of item.
How We Care for Each Category

Blouses (Cotton, Viscose, Silk)
Cotton & Viscose:
Machine-washed with gentle detergent. Buttons are checked and resewn or replaced for a clean finish.Silk:
Hand-washed with mild soap. This takes extra care, but it keeps the silk fresh, soft, and spotless.

Knitwear
Natural fibres (wool, cashmere, mohair):
Hand-washed according to the label. Wool is naturally self-cleaning, but we still wash every piece so it arrives fresh and odour-free.Synthetic blends: Washed in the machine when safe to do so.
Leather Jackets & Coats
Leather needs special treatment. We first clean the surface with leather cleaner. After it dries, we nourish the leather with balm — either neutral or coloured, depending on the condition. Small scratches or cracks are repaired using a leather repair kit: filler, glue, and colour.
Finally, we moisturise the piece thoroughly so the leather stays soft and strong.
Blazers
Blazers are aired, lightly cleaned, and steamed or ironed to restore their shape. We wipe the lining with a mild soapy cloth. If the lining is ripped, we repair it by hand.
For larger repairs, we send the blazer to a professional tailor. Buttons are always checked and resewn if needed.

Wool Trousers
Many wool trousers say “dry clean only,” but dry-cleaning uses heavy chemicals that are not always necessary. Because wool cleans itself naturally, we usually air the trousers and refresh them with a lightly damp cloth.
If a pair looks or smells less than perfect, we wash them gently by hand. It’s delicate work, but it brings wonderful results.

Jackets (Spring & Winter)
Many jackets can be safely machine-washed. When possible, we do so using wash balls to protect padding and down feathers. We treat stains beforehand with gall soap or micellar water.
We repair any loose stitches by hand — especially on quilted spring jackets, where stitching often breaks.
Everything is washed on a gentle 30°C cycle with delicate detergent.
Coats (Wool, Cashmere, Blends)
When selecting coats, we check carefully for moth damage. Small dents in the fabric usually mean moths were present, so we avoid such pieces completely — both for quality and for the safety of our storage space.
To ensure coats are fresh and clean, we air them outside for several days. Wool is naturally self-cleansing, so hygiene is not a concern, but letting the coat breathe removes any odours and dust.
Buttons are checked and secured, and small repairs are done by hand.
If needed, we freeze coats or steam-iron them as an extra precaution.

Shoes
We only choose shoes that look almost new: fresh leather, clean interior, and minimal wear on the sole. We prefer stitched soles rather than glued ones, since they last longer.
Our cleaning process:
• Wipe the leather with saddle-soap foam.
• Condition it with leather balm or fat.
• Use tinted balm when the colour needs refreshing (black, brown, blue, white).
• Polish after drying.Shoes are stored with shoe stretchers so they keep their shape.

Bags
We choose high-quality leather bags or excellent faux-leather bags that still look unused. We avoid metal hardware that is too worn, because the gold or silver finish cannot be fully restored.
If corners show light wear, we fix them easily with leather colour and balm.
Our cleaning process is the same as for shoes:
• Clean with a saddle-soap cloth
• Nourish with leather balm
• Refresh colour if needed
• Polish once dry
